Hi to all,
These last 3 days a team of petes friends , Ray , My son craig, and myself have been holding a vigil at Pete's bedside.
The doctor told us on Thursday the tragic news that there was nothing more they could do for Pete and that they planned to take his life support away at 1am but this got cancelled.
The reason for the cancellation was that Pete being a wonderful , generous man , had sign an organ donation list.
7.30am Friday 13th, They took the life support away and told us his passing would be quick.
Not likely!! Pete being a fighter ( and bloody stubborn) defied passing on and was breathing on his own for 36 hours.
He gently and slowly passed away around 3.45pm 14th April.
He was quickly taken to theatre where his kidneys are being transplanted as I write this blog.
A 51 year old man has been given one and a 66 year old man is to have the other.
Pete also donated corneas which will help someone see again and his heart valves which will be given to children who need transplants.
I am so proud to be his sister and I hope I did him justice in his final hours.
We would like to thank Faye and Little Sal , who are both angels, they sat with Pete all night while I grabbed some sleep. Carl , Kathryn , Alis, Kev, Sean, Nick and Deb who helped Ray and myself to get through this time. And last but not least my son Craig, who I'm so, so proud of, he was there for Pete and helped me through and he never showed if he was scared.
Thank you to the wonderful nurses who looked after my brother, you are true Angels.
R.I.P my big bro, until we meet again xxxx
